What you need to know

The New Animal Health Pass

It's straightforward to travel from the UK to France with your dog as long as you plan in advance!

It May seem daunting when you're planning a trip to France with your dog for the first time but it is really straightforward as long as you plan in advance.

The new pet travel rules for travelling from the UK to France came into effect on 1st January 2021.  This is our pre-travel checklist for travelling with your pet to ensure a smooth trip abroad and home again.

At least 1 month in advance.

  • Ensure your dog has a current rabies vaccination.
  • Check that your dogs microchip is working and registered.
  • Check any special requirements for your trip with your vet.
  • Plan your dogs food.
  • Have the right travel documents
  • Tapeworm treatment for returning home

Within 10 days of Travel

  • Vet visit to get the Health Certificate for Travel.
  • Vet visit for outbound tapeworm treatment

Returning home to UK

  • Have the right Travel Documents
  • Tapeworm treatment for returning home

What is the Animal Health Certificate?

Your vet needs to issue an Animal Health Certificate for your dog within 10 days of your travel date.

This new document is a "one trip only" document and valid for only one entry into France, unlike the previous Pet Passport so you need a new Animal Health Certificate for every trip to France.

The Animal Health Certificate confirms that your dog is microchipped and that your dog has current rabies vaccination.

The Animal Health Certificate:

  • Is valid for 10 days for entry into France from the date of issue.
  • Allows onward travel within the EU for four months from the date of issue
  • Allows re-entry into the UK for four months from the date of issue
  • Can only be used for one return trip.

Our simple rules!

While some of us can't imagine travelling without our dog, others can't imagine travelling with them. As long as you keep your dog under control on or off leash, clean up after them and do not make excessive noise, we can create a happy environment for all our guests.

We ask that no ball games are to be played in the Camping meadow itself, We have a large field on the riverside where you and your dog can run around and play ball and swim in the river charente.
